Ayurveda FAQs
Ayurveda Question and Answers
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is the over 5000 year old written medicine of India, which deals mainly with the maintenance of the harmony of body, mind and soul. The word Ayurveda is a combination of the words "Ayus," meaning "life" or "life principle" and "veda," which means a system of knowledge. In summary, "Ayurveda" can be translated as "knowledge of life". Ayurveda means "the knowledge of healthy life". Ayurveda tries to heal people in a holistic sense.
Ayurveda is not a cure in itself. It is probably a way of life, a way to understand life. It describes a lifestyle for health and healing. The focus and goal of Ayurvedic treatment is to activate the body's self-healing powers.
Living in harmony with nature and with yourself often means that you have to purify your body energetically and physically and that you adapt your diet to your individuality. A change of lifestyle is also necessary: more calm and order in your everyday actions and also in your feelings and thoughts. This creates a space for the development of creative processes and for spiritual growth. Learning to live as man really is and to learn to live from the original wisdom. This is the basic mission of Ayurveda. In your life you rarely reach a big goal without effort. That's the same with Ayurveda. You should be ready. Ayurveda is a philosophy of life that is used to purify the soul and detoxify the body. Ayruveda is a holistic life wisdom or life science that includes Ayurvedic massage and cleansing techniques, nutrition science, yoga and botany.
What can Ayurveda do for you?
Ayurveda serves to prevent and maintain lasting health until old age. It detoxifies and purifies the body and is helpful for recovery and recovery after acute and chronic diseases. Results of regular Ayurveda treatment are: clear eyes, a clean skin, strengthened nervous system and a rejuvenated appearance.
How important is nutrition? Good food and good digestion are considered in Ayurveda as one of the most important foundations of our health. If our digestion does not work well, our bodies, our cells, our tissues and the basic transformation processes will not be nourished and many diseases can arise. To eat on the basis of certain Ayurvedic principles, you also need some knowledge of the basic thoughts.
For whom is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is for men and women in the following life situations:
Ich have a stressful life and I need some peace
I want to loose weight or need a detox
I have inflammation and want to heal
I have to little energy and need to recharge my batteries
I am close to a burnout and need urgently to find back to my balance
My mind and nervous system are always on and a want to calm down
I have a specific sickness. Maybe Ayurveda can help?
I want a healthier lifestyle and learn how to eat better
I need a break from my life, to find out what I really want
I love the vegetarian kitchen and would love to get more insights around it
What is Panchakarma?
Panchkarma is often referred to as the health cure par excellence. Panchakarma is a cleansing cure in Ayurvedic medicine. The cure rebalances stressed, irradiated and intensively working people. Ayurvedic philosophy means that we are born to be healthy. Therefore, all diseases are based on an overload of the body and / or the psyche. The phases of Panchakarma Karma stands for "five" and karma for "actions". The cure consists of five main actions that are supported by massages. In order to regain balance, the body is cleansed from the inside and outside during panchakarma treatment. The cleansing of the inside is initiated by herbal medicine and nutrition, the exterior through massages, thermotherapies and rest.
A classic Ayurvedic cure includes the 5 main actions:
Vamana - therapeutic vomiting (used, for example, in chronic diseases)
Virechana - small bowel cleansing
Nasyam - cleaning of the nasal passages and sinuses
Basti / Vasti - colon cleansing
Rakta Moksha - blood cleansing by leeches (is used in severe serious diseases, is rarely used in classical cures)
A Panchakarma treatment is often divided into three phases:
Purvakarma - pretreatment
Pradhanakarma - main treatment
Pashtatakarma - Aftercare
Time brings peace and balance. This philosophy is not about taking a pill and working full time the next day. It is more about the time, the peace and the attempt to do nothing as part of the healing process. Therefore, take more time, if you want to do an Ayurvedic cure. 14 days to 30 days is good. For heavier illnesses even longer.

Drink 2 liters of boiled water a day, start in the morning
Drink herbal and spice tea
Avoid cold drinks
Do without coffee, black tea and alcohol
Eat predominantly warm food and well seasoned
Avoid dairy products, red meat, sweets, white flour, ready meals, fried food and whole grains
In preparation, take plenty of vitamins and minerals
Meditation and yoga are excellent ways to help the body before and during detoxification.
Look out for for your way to find peace and balance
Enjoy the ayurveda cure and the experience
What is Shirodara?
Shirodhara is a wonderful Ayurvedic treatment for deep relaxation. Shirodhara comes from Sanskrit and translates as "Shiro" = head and "dhara" = flow. Here, a continuous, gentle stream of oil is directed from a suspended brass bowl onto the forehead. This very contemplative treatment is also called "forehead oil pouring."
What are the effects of Shirodara?
All Ayurvedic treatments aim to activate the body's self-healing powers. The even flow of oil leads to deep mental and spiritual relaxation. Shirodhara is pure balm for the soul and calms the entire autonomic nervous system, harmonizing and balancing it. Shirodhara can open the third eye and thereby also open or strengthen spiritual channels.
Who is Shirodara suitable for?
For healthy individuals seeking a beautifully contemplative treatment, as well as those with the following conditions:
Chronic headaches
Pain syndromes
Sleep disorders
Stress and burnout syndromes
Depression, and
numerous other psychosomatic illnesses
When and how often do you recommend Shirodara?
This treatment is repeated for a few days up to two weeks during an Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy, following consultation with an Ayurvedic physician. The physician will determine the recommended number of days for you. During these days, it is strongly advised to do nothing at all. The goal is to seek tranquility and spend time with yourself. In this stillness, healing, balance, and recovery can occur.
